Cityscapes - 1976 - 1982

In the mid-seventies I began to paint the most mundane streetscapes I could find, corners of London I knew well, high streets, greens, bus stations and facades. At first this seemed deadpan and amusing, but gradually I sensed that there was some sort of poetry to be had. I felt that in some way I was taking control of the world around me for the first time.
