Soldiers 1990 - 2000

Following up on my "Havoc" paintings of public British imagery I began to look at soldiers in ceremonial dress. My grandfather was in the Lifeguards and for years a member of the Household Cavalry, guarding Buckingham Palace. I grew up with rather oppressive photographs of him looking very grand and proper. It was fun to imagine a much less proper set of antics for his fellow guardsmen.
